The Scottish thistle pricked the French cocks tonight...

So I asked to the Sarkozy's Kommandantur to be fired from France to Glasgow. I have found an evidence to be exempted from my French civil rights.

Just landed.

Most readers of this (there are about 5, right?) will not appreciate the enormity of Scotland's win in Paris last night. A few stats cause my brain is still too frazzled to deliver anything else. (it took me about 10 mins to log into this thing)

We hadn't beat them in France for 57 years.

France have played 47 qualifying games in the last 13 years and lost only 3 times. Twice to Scotland.

Scotland are now TOP OF A QUALIFYING GROUP that contains the two World Cup finalists and a quarter finalist.

Since Scotland last qualified for a major tournament (almost 10 years ago), France have won the World Cup once and been runners up once.

For a generation Scotland have been pure pish at football and now they look alright.

A mood of optimism is sweeping the country. Revolution in the air. McFadden for Prime Minister. PAM for President. Vive L'Ecosse ya bams.

This is curious. Bedrich's off his medicine again, or he's been drinking too much lemon tea with additives. Admittedly Scotland did win in France, but it was several days ago rather than yesterday. A Hamden of 56-10 seems a thumping on the face of it, but Los Lobos (Portugal) is a team made of amateurs, and they were humped 92-0 by Romania in the qualifying rounds.

Otherwise I'm reasonably confident that Scotland have indeed beaten France sometime within the last 10 years, rather than 57 years ago. Despite that large win over Portugal, L'Ecosse are still not top of their group, which contains only one world cup finalist. That finalist is of course New Zealand, who are about to chalk up a cricket score against Portugal, as well as probably another 50-60 points against Scotland next week ;) On the other hand, Scotland regularly qualify for the World Cup - they haven't missed out on one since the inaugural cup in 1987.

Oh! You're talking about some OTHER game...

Sorry PAM - you're looking very spiffing, mate. That outfit looks very familar; I think we've all worn Bedrich's hand-me-downs at some stage.

Shocking outcome against the Argies in the opening match of the World Cup, huh?

The Pumas have indeed eaten the Cocks but I did not found my fancy dress of Maradonna or Lazarro Luini.

Anyway, The French coach, Laporte is nominated as Minister of Sports immediately after the World Cup. Another evidence of the Sarkosy's Team incompetence. To be seen sooner than expected!
