A spirit of commitment

Good old Google, huh? When someone goes missing in action you just plug their name into the search engine and Hey Presto! you discover why they’ve been out of contact for the past few months. In this case, it looks like Bedřich has been fomenting revolution in the education sector there in Prague. I was wondering what all the secrecy and allusions to stress was about last time he was in touch. As someone who no doubt devours the Prague Post from cover to cover on a weekly basis in honour of his time served there a few years ago, Rotten will know all about what Bedřich has been up to, but BA may not.

It seems the British International School in Prague (or BISP for short), where our man is the Marketing and Development Manager, has suffered a major mutiny among the rank and file of its teaching and administrative staff. Half of them apparently resigned en masse due to some conflict with the school’s owner, which one can only presume has something to do with the pay and conditions. And now they’re setting up a new school with the slightly syntaxically challenged name of Prague British School. Most interesting news of all though, is that Bedřich is named as a future member of the new school’s Board of Directors. Heady stuff indeed. I hope it’s well remunerated. It’s also caused a lot of chatter on the blog site of that nauseating Prague expat website among the distressed mothers of children who attend BISP. I laughed when one parent thanked the Prague Post for writing the first article in 15 years that actually clarified an issue for her – she must have been on holiday when you were writing for them, Rotten ;) The Post also had a spiffing photo of a group of teachers looking like the Fantastic Four personifying the new “spirit of commitment” at the new school.

Not so easy Googling your moniker in Prague, Rotten, as you seem to have quite a few namesakes. A bit like me really; bloody Banjo Patterson has the same handle! And there are way too many BAs out there to easily identify what’s going on in Idaho.

Kivak reviews Kivak: I spoke too soon. I did find something about our silent BA, including an old picture in an online PDF file of TR Health Services' annual report of a very dodgey-looking Abe Lincoln lookalike. But that was from 2001. Then there's another reference from Cherry Lane CC. What's an M.Coun? And what's an LCPC? Is that like ACDC? Don't hide your bushel under a light, BA. Dare you to make a comment!

Okay. Jeezus that was difficult. Been fighting with Blogger for a long time to figger out why it wouldn't let me log in. For some reason I still can't post, but I can comment. Whatever. Add these technical complications to an already legendary aversion to frequent correspondence and you have what we have here: failure to communicate.

First off, Kivak, I commend and marvel at your persistence on this blog--both as the frequently-sole contributor and in your relentless goading of the other "members" to participate. Well done. Keep it up. I'm personally grateful as I do (though you wouldn't know it) read frequently and would miss it if it died.

Awright, enough pud-pulling out of the way. Its been way too long since I connected with most of you, so I won't try sum up what's transpired since then, for fear of writing for the next 3 hours and boring the holy shit out of most of you. Let's start with answers to Kivak's provocative queries and go from there. Warning: like my man Rotten, I tend to get here when I been hittin' the bevvy a bit , so kindly forgive if I lapse into Drunkese. Or a Rottenese rant. Like there's a difference..

Kivak, M.Coun stand for Masters in Counseling. LCPC is state-license-speak for Licenced Clinical Professional Counselor. Just means I'm a bad muthafucka. In a clinical sense. That's right folks, people actually pay good money for advice and insight from yours truly. Turns out I'm pretty good at it. Worked treating sex offenders and domestic batterers for almost 5 years and am now enjoying the relative ease of individual and couples' counseling in private practice. I work with everyday normal fucked up people like you and me...well maybe not like some of you guys... I love my job and can't imagine doing anything else. My primary specialty is sexual addiction, particularly pornography, so maybe we need to chat, Kivak, when you're ready to address your porn-at-work problem. Admitting the problem is the first step...

Living back in Boise. Love it. Tons of shit going on for me right now. Too much to tell. Bought a house last fall. Looking to rent it and buy another. Starting a new practice. Marrying a lovely lady next spring. (As the thaw in hell begins..)

There's a taste. Don't wish to overwhelm. Now that I got my access figgered out, you'll get my 2 cents more than you want it-- which don't take much. Carry on.

Yee-Haw! Welcome back B.A., mate. You oughta create some type of controversy over there in Boise so it becomes easier to trace you on the internet. And who's the little lady who brought some solar heating to hell, eh? Tell us more. Show us the pictures!
